The original Monastery of Desierto de las palmas is located on a plain between ravines, about 500 meters from the current monastery. Its construction took place between 1697 and 1733. The venue had a capacity for twenty-religious in its several departments. There are faculty, cisterns, a guesthouse and an episcopal palace whose remains can be seen even today. In 1783 a series of torrential rains and landslides severely damaged the building structure, after which the Discalced Carmelites were forced to leave and seeking a safer location. The Friary Temple is located in the very center of the Convent , surrounded by the various departments in which religious life develops. A marked simplicity of classical style , and tremendous functionality characterize the tone in this construction . The Latin cross is deeply symbolic , because in the head is the Tabernacle with the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament , indicating that Christ is our head. The faithful are all placed within the cross, to signify that each of us is a member of the Body of Christ. It is covered by barrel vaults that converge on the cruise , where a half-sphere dome perched on scallops . The dome symbolizes the sky , descending on earth in God's House . The décor , stucco , is designed to classic , with an array of pillars under an entablature that runs throughout the building. Los Angeles decorate the cornices and the hornacidas Saints remind us that the Church of Heaven ( Angels and Saints ) joins the land during the celebration of worship. Chairs header neoclassical altarpiece depicting Transverberation , Santa Teresa mystical experience in which he felt like an angel piercing her heart with a dart, and which is dedicated Monastario .
